Hiding in plain sight in Japan

Interesting article in the fridge on a growing trend in Japan - camouflage clothing and accessories that allow the wearer to hide in plain sight in the hopes of avoiding street crime. What happens when someone wants a Coke? And the shoes kind of give it away, as well as the unpacking time... You can see how it works (along with some other things from the article) in this quick slideshow.

I love the innovative spirit in Japan! Some crazy inventions for sure, but lots of interesting ideas.

It's really strange people at work were just talking about this. My question is would this really stop anyone from attacking you are just make it way harder to get away? See how fast you can run when you look like a vending machine!

I can't stop laughing at that thought! Imagine all the coke cans and loose change you'd leave in your wake! Maybe that would distract the criminal element?
