Stickers + Presidents = Hours o fun!

Jamie bought this little gem in Dallas last week. He had flown in for a meeting which ended early, leaving him several hours to while away before heading back to the airport. He spent some time at the JFK memorial (second in popularity to the Texas Schoolbook Depository, oddly) and found this dusty little prize among the offerings at the gift shop.

Our favourite part? Gee Dubya looking all thoughtful (as can be) on the cover rounding out the group of Washington, Lincoln and JFK. I sense a new Mount Rushmore in the works. Except I might recommend three other supporting characters... It's like that Sesame Street game and song "Which one of these things doesn't belong?".

The cover boldly claims that inside there are "facts and true trivia!" - perhaps an overstatement? I really doubt that statement is actually true in the truth sense (as opposed to Colbert's truthiness sense) but if you would like to warp a young child's developing mind, you too can buy the Presidents Sticker Book. Truth and stickers go hand-in-hand.

Couldn't believe this when I saw it. Right there mixed in with some of the greatest presidents of their time, truly blasphemy!

The strangest thing about my trip to the Dallas was the Book Depository. They've actually preserved the spot where Oswald supposedly shot the president from. It's all encased in glass like this is something that needs to be preserved. Yet the actual memorial for JFK which is a few blocks away is not maintained. For instance the lights in the center which used to shine upward from the inside of the memorial have broken glass, are missing their bulbs and are filled with leaves. Who are we trying to remember there?

I can only hope that we can once again find in politics people who are willing to stand out. Not to just be another cookie cutter candidate too afraid of the media to make a "mistake". The people do need a voice, whether it's in the US or here in Canada. Is there anyone who can give us this...anyone...Bueller?

Perhaps one child who is being forced to rigidly apply the stickers in the Presidents sticker book will become infused with a need for justice and a powerful new voice will be born!!!

Wasn't the depository moved to 30 Rock so Lee Harvey Olbermann can be free to snipe at the president 24/7?
