Check it out - the first thing I've made for little PJs to wear - a little baby hat! It's made from the softest, squashiest
organic cotton from Blue Sky Alpacas. I pretty much made up the pattern from a couple of others in the first
Stitch n' Bitch book and am really proud of it! It's so tiny and adorable and so very soft. As far as sizing goes, I wanted it to fit a newborn. To help guesstimate how big to make it, I've used everyone's favourite life-like model - the New Year's Baby! See - there are no end to uses for it!

I got the wool from of my favourite knitting shops yesterday -
Three Bags Full on Main. It's a lovely little shop and full of inspiration. I came away with the cotton for this project, a skein of air-soft fuzzy
brushed suri (llama and merino wools blended with bamboo) in a barely blue shade and enough
textured cotton in Sea (teal) to make a blanket for PJs. Now I think I'll start on the blanket!

Very sweet...knew that New Year's baby would come in handy one day@:)
Is teal the shade of blue that you are using for the baby's room?
Thanks Bonnie! For the baby's room I'm thinking more like a combination of a grayish blue predominantly, one that is sort of a neutral blue that other blues will go with - like baby blue and teal (and it's a deep teal, rather than a turquoisey one!). that and off white, grays and a tiny shade of orange too...
You did a nice job knitting that little hat for the baby, you have many crafty talents don't you? How big is the blanket going to be? It sounds good that it is easy to wash! Remember...I have some nice small buggy-sized afghans from when you were a little sprout!A small white knitted chevron pattern one from my godmother & 1 pale blue, pink & yellow crocheted one from your Aunt Dorothy that I brought you home from the hospital in! I used them in the baby buggy & first hung one over that rocking chair that was in your bedroom when you were a baby. You could hang one over your own next-to-new rocking chair in the babys room! Let me know & I could send something with the next shipment to you!
thanks Mom! The pattern says it will be 32" x 32" - see, I used inches for you!!
The white blanket you mentioned sounds nice - I think the other one might not fit so much with the baby's room decor, and I can't take all your blankets! :-)
