A freebie day off (for Jamie)...

Jamie had a much-deserved mini-holiday from work today and we spent it visiting the Aquarium. Our timing was great - I think we got there around 11am and it was really empty, all things considered. There was one school field trip going on and a really hyper toddler on a leash running wild, but otherwise it was really empty. I love having a membership - we breeze straight in (although there was no line today) and we don't have to worry about seeing everything at one go. Although did you know they have a sloth there? We found a section I'd never been to before, the Amazon, which is kind of odd considering that it's a pretty small aquarium...

We fueled the rest of our day with the rejuvenating power of aquarium hotdogs and walked through the park - they're putting up the Christmas lights now. What better way to be introduced to the concept of Santa Clause than by seeing hundreds of the plastic fellows in the process of becoming an electric spectacle?

We also went for a great little drive (something we don't do a lot of what with my knees hitting the dash in the passenger seat and all!) - and did a lot of playing. Cole and Jamie enjoyed a game of "control tower communications" using the rings from an otherwise annoying stacking rings toy. Fun!

I love the picture of the jellyfish! I haven't been to the aquarium in years. Time to brave the large groups of screaming children I suppose ;-)
