he played knick knack on my thumb

jamie and i were debating about the actual words to "this old man" this morning and thankfully we had the good old interwebs to turn to for advice. yes, because i have nothing better to do than to look up the words to songs involving words like "paddy whack" - whatever that even means? (oh - gross!)

we found a great site - bussongs. in their words (because i do actually have lots of stuff to do, besides looking up song lyrics, let alone posting about them):

bussongs.com - the largest collection of children's music on the internet - with lyrics, videos and music for 2,066 kid's songs & nursery rhymes.

the site was created to help kids, parents, and teachers recall the words and lyrics to loved children's songs that bring back warm memories of family trips and summer camp. we also have a huge collection of lullabies and nursery rhymes to help keep alive the traditions of mums and dads singing their children to sleep.

so it put our debate to rest and i suspect we'll be visiting again. probably more for factual reference in solving debates, because i really enjoy making up random lyrics when i don't know the words.

It's a great site eh? I discovered it way back when Abner was only 4 months old...needed to teach Sean the correct lyrics to "Do your ears hang low?"

wow that site is comprehensive all right.

So I looked up "If you're happy and you know it" because saint aardvark is determined that the correct lyric is "..and you really wanna show it" whereas I go with the truly correct "...then your face will surely show it" and they do back me up, which is great, but now I'm wondering...
how do they know?

and I'll never admit it under my real name but I think "...and you really wanna show it" makes more sense, after all, if your face will surely show it, then why do you need to clap hands / stomp feet / shout hooray?

I don't have time to look at that site either but I think it will come in so handy for my little music lovers. We have watched the live video of The Beach Boys performing "Barbara-Ann" no fewer than 10 times in the past day. Man toddlers are relentless.
