summertime in vancouver, living downtown, means shoulder-to-shoulder jostling for position at our favourite shops/restaurants/coffee shops/markets/attractions/parks. i am not a jostling kind of person - i like a bit of breathing room. thank heavens that the fresh breeze of september has blown vacationing hordes home, kids to school and so on, and things have thinned out a bit.
today we headed over to the vancouver aquarium. we renewed our membership - it had expired in june and i was not about to venture into that den of lions during the summer crush - and thouroughly enjoyed ourselves. we park over by the miniature railway because i just love the walk through those lowish trees (even if we have to dodge that persistent lady who sells kites). sun dappled early fall grass - delightful! we enjoyed junk food - a hot dog (for me) and an ice cream (for cole) - and watched the dolphin show and touched squishy things and leaned against the glass in the underwater whale viewing area and generally had a grand old time.

Sounds like a lovely time. Nice to miss the crushing crowds. Amazing how much Coley has grown since the last picture with him and the belugas :)
