it's a crowd pleaser

i've been absent from this space for a while... i was finalizing a graphic design project, getting my stuff in order to sell locally, in preparations for a craft show, a vacation to mexico (hola/gracias/dos mojitos por favor) and then back for more prep and the actual craft show. busy, in other words. i kept taking photos, but as far as looking at them and doing something? not so much... i still have to sift through vacation photos from mexico and ontario before that, but i thought it might be a good time to post some random doings from the last little while... many of them are run-of-the-mill house things, what with all the rain and pre-vaccination h1n1 avoidance and all, but they were fun...

everyone loves bubble wrap, now don't they? cole studiously popped nearly every bubble one at a time and it was pretty funny. yes, yes, safety committee - he was well supervised (i was pointing a camera at him after all) and the discarded plastic was promptly removed. but i tells you - baby plus bubble wrap equals funny.

he's been learning to sew. well, mostly to sit on my lap and observe while pressing the reverse button on occasion... i do all of my sewing while he sleeps, but last week i had a few things to do that needed doing and hey - isn't this fun? what a cool activity!

cole loves games. and money. he laughs and repeats "miser, miser, miser" when he asks for nickels and dollars - for paying for parking (he feeds the meter for me), paying for groceries or paying the see-i'm-not-a-hobo cart deposit at the grocery store, or when he hears my craft fair change jingling around in my wallet... so connect four is a logical choice for him. supervised - i'm still not 100% sure he won't eat the "nickles" as he calls the pieces. but he loves this game. and hungry hungry hippoes, we've noticed. thankfully, like mature adults, we had both these games in our game closet...

he also loves the potty! everyone poops is a current obsession for him... so far he's only into putting all our toilet paper in the toilet. he goes on his little potty sometimes too, which is a good step! and he tears around the corner if he hears anyone peeing - ah, the joys of a small apartment. we read him the sunny book a lot on the potty and have our own little hootenanny song that does the trick. i wonder what he'll think a hootenanny actually is? i have a distinct memory of going to loblaws as a kid and being confused since "booblaws" was my word for boobies...

he loves playing the guitar with jamie and i'm sure we'll have two guitars before long (we were this close to buying him his own mexican ukelele but then i wouldn't have had room for tequila and rum plus it was a crappy cheap instrument)... which reminds me, in a non-related-to-the-last-sentence-way, that i think we have an electric guitar and an amp in the storage locker. oh, dear sweet neighbours who live above and below us - i think we also have a set of bongos in there...

i bought him these "girl" pajamas a while ago, when shopping at superstore. they were too cute. hey, if all the girls i know can wear "boy" clothes, what's the difference? he likes them - they're covered in adorable reindeer. also, i think they have cupcakes on them and a good amount of pink, but they really are cute. now if i could only find them - i think they're in my never-ending pile of laundry...

and window-writing. we loves us some window-writing around here. i don't know how it could not be confusing for the chillens, what with the various markers that are invisible on things, only for windows, chalk for the chalkboard, colour on the placemats at the restaurant but not on the table etc etc etc. but these window markers are a blast.

and, randomly, i love this outfit. we bid adieu to his halloween cowboy pants the other day - my "one day only" fringe had started to come off six weeks after halloween had come and gone, so it was with regret that i plucked them off his otherwise normal courdoroy pants. those cowboy pants were a riot and people would stop us to comment on them, so i must make some real ones. soon, soon...

after christmas i only have my 3 foot to-do list, so i'll have the time...

Connect 4 is BRILLIANT. My 20 month old also loves money and putting it in things, but he keeps emptying the 3.5 y/o's piggy bank. Connect. 4. Awesome.
