to do: wednesday, april 28

- usual list of a billion chores, shower, breakfast, perhaps brush teeth
- company's coming - mop floor so home does not appear as recent touch-down site of crumb tornado (blatant lie)
- spend inordinate amount of time looking for "the lost puppy" - a hilariously non-pc vintage book about (you guessed it) a lost puppy, a boy named tommy and the three fat policemen who help find him
- laugh a lot when child keeps asking for "tommy and the fat puppy"
- playdate - have fun, chat, illustrate concept of sharing, repeat, repeat, repeat, treat any bleeders, say good-bye
- more chores, lunch for boy
- remind boy not to touch poop
- stories, snuggling, put child down for nap
- make self lunch (dust off and open sketchy can of disaster-kit-quality soup)
- eat soup while imagining it to be something much better
- write emails, answer emails, download photos
- sew 12 toast pins for craft fair, pretend to have "real job"
- complete application interview for life insurance (learn types of tobacco didn't know existed)
- back to work... or change someone's diaper
- trip to drugstore in part of town unfamiliar with - locate store, find parking
- return substandard mascara, buy substandard shampoo
- quell feelings of nausea while at drugstore, try to not shout "duh, no!" when kindly old sales lady asks if pregnant
- stop at unfamiliar grocery store to search for food, continue trying to not feel sick
- drive home, don't get lost this time
- unload groceries and toddler awkwardly next to neighbour-who-parks-too-close
- let child unlock trunk, discourage him from unlocking the trunks of others
- put away groceries, start dinner
- lie down feeling sick and read "oh say can you say" twice. search again for lost puppy without much zeal or luck
- count down minutes until husband returns, conjur up mental oasis of bath and lazing while healthy parent tends to child
- compare nausea stories with husband. the bad: he has same symptoms. the good: he's not pregnant either!
- debate source of stomach ailment - consider the fact that we're eating the same thing tonight.
- more dinner prep
- drop entire brand-new gallon of organic milk on floor - watch it explode and gush everywhere
- mop up floor with brand-new towels because other towels are in the washer. then empty dryer, rotate wash to dryer, wash milk-soaked towels
- eat while trying to convince someone not to freak out because they want cheese on their noodles when cheese is already on their noodles
- be dismissed from table to sanctuary of bath tub. read, even if queasy
- welcome child into tub. participate in play, wash and toothbrush child, let him pour water on head
- put child to bed, provide water/soothers/snuggling/water/tuck/retuck/water
- take out trash, clean up car (rake debris into tote, bring coffee mug upstairs)
- collapse in heap on sofa
- oh wait, more work emails, read gossip, catch up on goings-on
- write long and rambling blog post and upload some cute photos from the last couple of days
