aquatic adventures

cole and i took a little trip to the vancouver aquarium on friday, and we had a blast!  it was a suggestion that popped up over breakfast and he went crazy with excitement, so we hopped into the car and got ourselves down to stanley park.  i love the aquarium - it's not overly complicated and there is so much to see.  we have an annual membership, but i tend to avoid the place in june, july and august.  the crush of field trips, camp trips and general touristy mayhem is a little much for my addled brains, but luckily it wasn't too crazy.

cole was really excited to look at all the frogs, and one of our usual favourites is the big tank of tropical creatures - the stingrays, sharks and the sea turtle.  the turtle was cooperative and i think he was showing off a wee bit.

going out in the car is always a bit of a treat for us.  i try to take the skytrain downtown most often,  but for something like the aquarium it's so hard to get down there and back without ruining naptime unless you take the car.  cole likes to request his favourite songs as we drive - i am looking forward to the day when he is finished with arcade fire's keep the car running!  he proudly tells me, "i'm crazy for that one".
