dads-ahoy!

today we kicked off father's day a wee bit early - cole has a fresh cold so he came into the big bed to snuggle after he woke up in time to wake the roosters.  that meant that before jamie's offical gift, he was given the delightful gifts of a few well-placed kicks in the ribs and at least 20% less mattress space (i normally take 60% anyway!).

of course once it was properly considered daybreak, cole ran to grab the gifts he'd made for daddy: a card, a painting and a coffee mug with his own artwork on it.  he was quite excited to show off his handiwork - he's always very excited to do art projects.  we seem to be moving up the mess scale: crayons, markers, glue sticks, watercolours now finger paints and stamping.  each time he gets a new trick under his sleeve in the art department he enjoys practicing at any chance, so this was perfect.

we headed out to breakfast with grandpa dave & grandma bonnie, and then a car show in north vancouver.  i think i might have gotten my fill of car shows sometime around the age of 12 (hi dad - love you!) so bonnie and i rambled around the quay market instead while the guys ogled the fancy autos.

cole and i had one more gift for jamie.  we'd conspired about it a few days ago, so stealthily while cole was sleeping i baked a giant cookie, the size of a pizza.  "stealthily" also known as announcing from the kitchen "don't look over here for 20 minutes, we have a surprise for you."  when cole woke up (too early - go away sniffles!) we took a minute to jot our sentiments down in icing.

i know for sure he's got a cold because, aside from licking off the red icing and then acting like a berserk spider monkey high on sugar, he didn't actually eat any cookie.  luckily he has two folks who can make up for him.

happy father's day jamie!   you are coco's hero and mine too.  if you're looking for your cape might be in the laundry basket.  ;-)

Terrific Fathers Day cookie for Jamie! It must have been kind of tricky to take off the pizza pan in one piece!

No problem Miranda, I love you too. I totally understand the thing about old cars.... Actually, I am tired of them too.

So sweet. Your icing penmanship is impressive.
