coco and i went downstairs yesterday to put away the suitcases from our (excellent - photos soon) labour day weekend trip to san francisco.
our storage locker is quite the piece of work. we had to pay an arm and a leg to get one in this new building, and it's not exactly anything to write (home) about. it caused many problems when we were closing - the bank forgot to add it to our mortgage and blah, blah, blah - boring details - i was constantly reminded what we coughed up for what we got. it's slightly larger than a phone booth and it smells like the apartment of someone with body odour and several hamsters. it's nestled in the bowels of the parking garage. it cost $5000! i can't help looking at it and thinking i would trade it for a week in europe. but alas, without a storage locker we would have no place to keep our suitcases, craft show stuff, the alternate cushions for our couch and many once-a-year items like folding chairs, stroller bits and christmas ornaments. our last storage locker was larger, so when we moved we did a major and painless cull. apparently this made the cut:
coco is crazy for music. he instantly spotted this ukelele in the storage locker and said "hey - my ukelele!". he was delighted at the reunion and insisted, of course, on bringing it back upstairs. i don't mind - i actually like ukelele music - but it was one of those things... you can only trip over something, have it crash out of a closet at you, listen to it and find new places for it for so long before you move it to valuable space in the storage locker. it's back for now, but it's days are numbered. until then, i might go strum a bit. aloha!

We'll have to get Cole and Abby jamming together sometime. She plays a mean harmonica.
