paint + wood

i found the most adorable bird house kit at pedagogy toys at the new west quay on the weekend. we had a blast painting it (cole did all of the creative direction and most of the paint application too!) and we hung it out back in a tree in the yard. so far it's still available, if you know any birds in our neighbourhood who are in the need of housing.

Cole is really focused on doing a good paint job...looks like he's tidy too! If you want to get the birds to notice it when they are passing through your yard, to get them to build a nest in it...put out a feeder or two (the type that doesn't hold a silo full of seeds)You can add a daily amount of seeds every day that way, and the birds return to sit in the empty feeder to remind you to feed them. When you come out with the seeds, the birds will be watching from the trees & bushes, and when you get back in the house, turn around and they will probably be eating already! And have your binoculars & bird book handy, even the plainest birds have more detail than you'd think!
