coco woke up this morning to find his yellow easter basket near the door of his room. it happened to be there because i cleaned up the other day and found it hidden away. he is rather fond of stuffing things with many parts and pieces into other things and then haphazardly carrying them around the house, leaving a trail of debris behind him, so i put the basket into his room. but when he woke up and spotted it, he interpreted the reappearance of the basket as MOM MOM MOM - THE EASTER BUNNY CAME AGAIN! LET'S SEE IF THERE ARE EGGS IN THE LIVING ROOM!
he brought me in to his room to investigate the easter basket and he told me that the bunny must have come back! it was adorable - he was so excited and i thought it was too cute to not play along. luckily, i always buy too much seasonal candy and we happened to have a dwindling supply of chocolate eggs in the freezer. i told coco to wait in his room while i went and checked to see if the bunny had come, and i quickly hid a handful of eggs. man alive, was he ever surprised!

chocolately hoppity

so... coco knows about the easter bunny. he loves the easter bunny. on a not-unrelated note, the easter bunny brought candies last night. coco woke up this morning and he was overjoyed to find hidden treats. also, very good at unwrapping. so adorable to watch him scampering about, gathering, searching high and low and squealing while piling them into his little basket. he had only a couple before i put the basket away (it's not easter, i suppose, unless you've had too much chocolate before breakfast) but that was sufficient to keep him bouncing until about 1pm.

just in time for easter!

happy easter!
he had a blast shaking the plastic eggs (lucky for cole they were taped shut and lucky for us, they're filled with chocolates for mama and daddy!), gnawing at the bunny, who developed a hole in the foil rather quickly and was shelved, and then toting his basket around the house. fun!

make your own peeps!
i generally love things made of sugar and marshmallow - or even just sugar or just marshmallow...
each year i buy one box of peeps around easter and enjoy the first few, only to feel quite ill watching as the rest of the birds harden and become unappetizing (more so!). usually i do this at the office so that i don't feel obligated to eat all the lonely peeps, but since no one but me likes them they sit on the counter getting the side-eye from foraging co-workers... this year i'm not at the office and haven't yet bought my box.
and in the hopes that there's a better peep out there, i couldn't resist sharing this: make your own peeps!
good luck! i haven't got the time to try this out, but i'm curious. maybe next year?
